DIY Wedding Ideas
Making Wedding Fridge Magnets

Wedding Fridge Magnets are one of the easiest diy wedding crafts to do.

DIRECTIONS USING MAGNETIC SHEETS:

Create the layout of your wedding fridge magnets by using your computer's word processing program or a graphic's program.

The design should include your first and last names, wedding date, and wedding location. Be sure to list at the bottom of the magnet “invitation to follow”, so your guests won't think that this is the actual wedding invitation.

Use a font that is easy to read and goes with the design you have decided to use. The standard size of the wedding fridge magnet is a little larger than a business card. Be sure to leave enough room between each card for cutting.

A save the date fridge magnet might include a photo of you and your fiance or it might be a calendar of your wedding month with your wedding date circled.

Once you finish designing the layout of your wedding fridge magnet, you can copy it over and over again, until you fill an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet. (This is the standard size of the magnetic sheets.)

You can purchase the magnetic sheets at any office supply store or on the internet. The sheets usually cost around US$10 for five sheets. You should be able to get 10 magnets per sheet.

The magnet sheets can easily run through your home printer or you can take it to a copy and printing service shop. Be sure to print on the glossy side of the sheet.

Once you have printed your magnetic sheets, you can use standard, household scissors or a paper cutter to cut them out.

DIRECTIONS USING MAGNET STRIPS:

If you decide to use magnet strips, follow the same directions as those above for designing your magnets.

The magnet strips come in two sizes: 3" x 4" or 4" x 5". You can buy the magnet strips at any office supply or hobby shop. They usually come in a package of 25 and cost around US$8.79

Once you have your design and have typed in the important information, print the cards out on heavy paper - like card stock. Then cut out the card design with scissors or a paper cutter. Glue the finished card to one of the magnetic strips.

If you are really creative, you can add design items, such as beads, feathers, emblems, or whatever reflects your wedding style.

Directions for Save the Date Wedding Cards:

You can really use your imagination when making your own save the date wedding cards. The cards can be formal or informal and are the size of a standard invitation or postcard.

You can choose colors, themes, and accents, such as beads or shells that correspond with your wedding theme. You can even be creative in the shape of the card. The styles and designs are limitless for the save the date wedding cards.

The wording is the same as on the wedding fridge magnets. However, you have more room to experiment with ideas to make your card unique.

Once you have designed your save the date cards, you can print them on your home printer or take them to a photocopier.

Be sure to try different fonts and layouts to achieve the look you are wanting.

Again, be sure to include “invitation to follow” at the bottom of your card, so that your guests will not think this is your wedding invitation.
