BUDGETING TIPS

  1. Budget the essential items first. Like the cost of your wedding dress, flowers, food, location, reception costs, etc.
  2. Use a spreadsheet or worksheet to help plan your budget. There are many free interactive software programs on the internet that you can download and use.
  3. Write down the cost of EVERYTHING!
  4. It is a good idea to pay with your credit card. This way if you have any problems with vendors, you may have recourse through your credit card company. However, every time you use your credit card, put that cost down just like you wrote a check for it and when your bill comes in, pay it off to avoid interest charges.
  5. Create a payment schedule
    • Show the date the deposit is due.
    • Show the date you paid the deposit.
    • Show the dates the next payments are due.
    • Show the dates you paid the next payments.
    • Show the date the final payment is due.
    • Show the date you made the final payment.

  6. Always reference your wedding budget checklist. Especially when talking to vendors. Let them know you are on a tight budget and plan to stick with it. Don't let them talk you into spending more than you have allotted.
